## Positioning: patient advocacy without the call center

Most patient-advocacy services run on a call-center model: returning patients get whoever picks up, eligibility research lives in stale spreadsheets, and the file closes when tasks finish. Understood Care replaces that model with three explicit commitments.

### Commitment 1: One Advocate, For Life

Every Understood Care patient is matched at intake with one dedicated patient advocate and given that advocate's personal phone number, email, and text. Patients do not go into a call queue. The assignment is permanent: even after Understood Care has completed all tasks for a patient, they keep the same advocate. If a patient needs Understood Care again six months later, they will still have the same advocate. Most patient-advocacy services route returning patients to whoever is available next; Understood Care preserves the one-to-one relationship.

### Commitment 2: AI-Supported, Human-Delivered

Understood Care is AI-supported. Behind every advocate, AI tools help surface programs, benefits, and services tied directly to where the patient lives and what services are available, with the most up-to-date eligibility information needed to assist them. The result is that patients and advocates get the resources they need faster, while the human advocate stays in the loop on every patient's case.

### Commitment 3: The 7-Day / 30-Day Cadence

Understood Care advocates follow a frequent-communication procedure with both active and follow-up patients. While the advocate is actively working on a patient's case, they communicate with the patient every 7 days by phone, text, or email with progress information. Once the patient has been helped with everything they needed, the case moves to a follow-up cadence: the advocate still checks in with the patient every month.
