How are our Advocates Free?

Understood Care advocates are free because insurance covers them. Starting in 2024, Medicare pays for navigation and community health services. Learn more here:

When is it free?

It’s free if you have Original Medicare and another plan and have paid your deductible. If not, we can help you get one. It’s also free with Medicare Advantage.

What happens if there’s a cost?

We’ll tell you about any costs before your first session with no surprise bills.

Do you accept my insurance?

We’re growing to serve more people by adding new states and Medicare Advantage plans. If we’re not in your area yet, we plan to be there soon.

Understood Care is FREE for most patients with Medicare

If you have out of pocket costs we will tell you BEFORE your first session. You will never receive a surprise bill from us.

A couple more questions...

What if I have Medicaid instead of Medicare?

Unfortunately patient advocacy is not yet covered by Medicaid. It is only covered by Medicare at this time.
What if I have commercial insurance instead of Medicare?
Unfortunately patient advocacy is not yet covered by commercial insurance.  It is only covered by Medicare at this time.
Why are you not in network with my plan?
We have to contract with each individual insurance company in each state in order to start accepting Medicare Advantage patients. We are working as quickly as possible but in many instances we are waiting for the insurance companies to respond to us.
