Hi, Debbie from Understood Care again, and I wanted to come on and talk to you about your Medicare deductible. If you have your traditional Medicare plan, there's an amount that you have to pay before Medicare will pick up the 80% that they pay. This is an annual amount, it renews every January, and unfortunately, it normally goes up every January.

But that means that you have to pay the Medicare allowed amount, not the doctor's billed amount, okay? You pay the Medicare allowed amount for that visit until you meet your annual deductible.

Now, if you have a secondary plan or a supplemental plan, sometimes we'll pick up that deductible where you don't have to pay it, that they'll pay your Medicare deductible for you. So what happens if you go to a doctor in January through March, and they say you have to pay your deductible, if you have a secondary or a supplemental plan, no, you don't.

It needs to be sent there first, and you can let your doctor know, make sure they have your secondary or supplemental policy, and you let them know that it will cover your Medicare deductible. If you're not sure, that's something we can help with. We can look at your benefits, we can review them with you, we can help you advocate for yourself because really that's part of what we do so that you're not being overcharged for services based on your coverage.
